Christ-Centered Cinema
As an ardent follower of Jesus Christ, I think it’s necessary to maintain a Biblical perspective on the movies. This is often tough to do, as 99.9% of films that are produced—and eventually released—have secular underpinnings. What’s interesting, though, is that many movies readily use the “Christian allegory” to get their message across. That is, in the most basic sense, viewers are frequently presented with a protagonist who must “sacrifice” him/herself in order to save a person (or group of people). In order to explore this idea in some depth, I’m planning an ongoing series of articles that explores this typically overlooked feature of the silver screen. The purpose of this is to generate some dialogue and thought among fellow moviegoers, so feel free to leave some comments. The first of these will be posted shortly, so be sure to check it out.
